National Account Manager – Grocery

Remote working, travel to customers is expected

A large European food group who have started to build their UK presence is looking to hire a National Account Manager who will manage two of their newest grocery retail customers.   The UK business has taken off with distribution already in all the main UK retailers and rapidly expanding. It now time to start expanding the commercial team with the hire of a talented FMCG commercial professional who the business can invest in for future leadership opportunities.  This will be a truly exciting and rewarding opportunity for career development.   

The role reports into the Sales & Marketing Director and will work closely with the Managing Director and other members of the business in Sales, Logistics, Finance and Technical

This role will present the opportunity for a talented National Accounts professional to get rapid exposure to major customers and fast track their career through strong coaching in all commercial areas of FMCG. The business has sales of more than £18m and growing at pace.

Key roles and responsibilities include

  • Maximising range and distribution in existing Grocery Retail accounts
  • Delivering optimal promotional plans, where listed
  • Launching new branded product ranges at annual range changes
  • Maximising sales and margin to deliver financial growth year on year
  • Best in class day to day account management including analysis on the Retailer portals
  • Effective cross functional collaboration with department heads and appointed Suppliers overseas

The ideal candidate

  • 4-8 years’  + experience managing retail customers ideally across branded food/FMCG products
  • Some classic blue-chip training, preferably combined with experience gained at a high growth SME’s
  • Thrives in an ambitious and fast paced environment
  • Great at working within and leading cross functional project teams
  • Exemplary commercial acumen & negotiation skills
  • Effective networker and relationship builder
  • Available to travel to Europe for meetings with Supplier partners, where required
